About the event
On March 20, Lara will premiere two song cycles by Sid Robinovitch with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and Maestro Anne Manson conducting. They are Shir Hashirim, music set to verses from the Song of Solomon and Canciones Sefarad based on Ladino folk poetry. Some music in these cycles may be familiar to listeners who are aware of Sid’s music. He rearranged some existing songs for Lara's voice and wrote new songs to fulfill her wish to perform classical music in Hebrew and Ladino. The orchestrations were completed by Tad Bernacki expressly for this premier with MCO.
